Several times on Instagram I have watched wonderful videos and listened to a melancholy, female voice tell us to enjoy the moments in life. She says most of the moments are small, but some are big. This is true, but then her sad voice tells us, “This is all there is.” I do not remember the videos, but that pessimistic message stayed with me.
I decided to speak up the next time I encountered that quote or anything else false. Yes, we should earnestly enjoy each moment God allows us, but this world is not all there is for us. If anyone believes it is, they need to immediately begin a search for God. I promise you . . . (I cross my heart and hope to die) . . . if you sincerely search for Him, He will make Himself known to you.
I digress, but I want to share something with you. Not long ago a lady was trying to sell us something. When she finished her sales speech and guarantee, I smiled and said, “Do you cross your heart and hope to die?” She was shocked, but then she smiled and said, “Yes, I do.” I left out, “stick a needle in my eye.”
We had listened to her sales pitch out of kindness, but we were not interested in what she was selling. We talked to her for a few minutes, and left her smiling. People who stop shoppers, and try to sell them items out of the blue, are treated unkindly. I try to put myself in their shoes, but I have no time for pushy, rude salesmen.
Dear Reader, speak up for the truth. People need to know it. I have joy and peace in my heart, but I am very aware of what is happening in the world. I see the hate, the sadness, the pain, the anger. All hell seems to be breaking out everywhere. I pray every day, but I accept all of it as God’s will . . . even the root canal in my near future.
We are living in the age of undeserved favor . . . grace. When we seek God’s forgiveness, He freely gives it to us. We cannot earn it. One day grace will end, because Jesus IS coming back. If you do not belong to Him, that should terrify you. God is very real . . . so is hell. Jesus spoke of it often.
Scripture tells us to make sure . . . very sure that we do in deed belong to Him. Do you love Him? Do you pray about everything (good and bad)? Do you love studying His Word? Do you live your life trusting the Holy Spirit to guide you, teach you and protect you? Are you different from the world? Have you felt His presence? These are some questions that will help you determine if your salvation is real.
The Lord wants His children to warn that time is short for finding Him. Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 are chapters that describe the end times. There is going to be a reckoning for all the evil we are watching unfold, but I am not afraid. Do you have that contentment in your heart?
I have no words to explain how awesome that peace is for me. I want that for you, too. I pray for you. I ask the Lord to bless you, dear Reader that is searching for truth. I ask Him to give you assurance. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray for you. Amen.
