ASK GOD TO BLESS YOUR FOOD

The other day, I was reading about genetically engineered foods being in so much of what we eat. Especially the junk foods that our children and grandchildren eat. Other countries (China, Russia, Mexico, India, France, Germany, Italy, and many others) ban the foods that the FDA approves for Americans. That upsets me.

My husband retired from law enforcement a few years ago, and I gave him several new jobs. One is to push the shopping cart when we go to the grocery store. He patiently stands there, while I read the ingredients on any item, that I have not previously checked. For years, I have taken our health very seriously. He says that he appreciates my efforts, and I can tell by his face that he means it.

We have five free roaming hens and a rooster. Another job I delegated to my husband is to open their coop every morning, close it at night, and clean it. He collects the eggs, but instead of using the egg basket, he puts them in his pockets. I raised my eyebrows when he started that practice, however so far no broken eggs.

Our garden is organic. The summer heat in Texas destroyed it this year, despite my husband’s efforts to save it. I buy organic whole foods, chicken and grass-fed beef. I do what I can, but we like to eat out sometimes. We decided, before we take one bite of the possibly genetically engineered food, to pray for divine intervention. We thank God for our food and we ask Him to please bless it.

I encourage you to do the research. I was amazed at the extent of this practice. I will never pull apart another Oreo cookie and eat the center first, unless they remove all the GMO ingredients. Oreos have never had any real nutritional value, but when I was a child they did not harm you. Now they are “dangerous to your health.”

When Jesus fed the thousands, He gave thanks for the loaves of bread and small fish. My faith assures me, that if I thank God for my food, and He blesses the food that I pray about, it will not harm me, or those I share it with.
